What the jar replaces
One jar. Four things you can stop buying.
Face moisturizer, body butter, hand cream, lip balm. One jar does all four, because nothing in it suits your face and not your hands.
A pea covers a face. Used daily, a jar lasts most people three to four months, and it is 4 oz where 2 oz is standard at this price. Three to four months works out to well under a dollar a day for all four jobs.
The honest comparison is the four products you would otherwise keep replacing, each on its own schedule.
Tallow seals. The oils repair.
Read the label
The rosehip is in the jar, not just on the label
Most tallow balms are the sealing part and very little else. The rosehip and sea buckthorn on their labels are there in amounts too small to change anything. We leave real room for them, so your barrier gets sealed and the skin underneath gets something to work with.
Ingredient lists are ordered by how much is in the jar, so this takes five seconds to check. Read ours top to bottom and see where the oils sit. Those oils cost more than the tallow does, and that is the whole reason this is not a $30 jar.

On texture
"I genuinely didn't think I liked tallow until I discovered this product. It's whipped SO WELL. It literally melts into your skin. There's no residue, it's not greasy or heavy."
Alex
On the smell
"The only tallow lotion my girlfriend will use. Been trying to get my girlfriend to use tallow for years, but everything smelled too beefy or had a slimy texture. This one smells amazing and rubs on smooth with no slime."
Drew
On reactive skin
"During pregnancy my skin has been extra sensitive, dry, and reactive, so I've been extremely careful about what I use, and this product has been an absolute dream."
Ashley Barrett
True Origin is also recommended by integrative and functional doctors and carried in holistic medical clinics. That is a harder room to win than a homepage.
What it smells like
It does not smell like beef
Most tallow smells because it is rendered from trim fat. Ours is rendered from suet, the hard fat from around the kidneys, which renders close to odorless before anything is added to it. What scent there is comes from whole organic rose petals, vanilla pods and marshmallow root infused into the fat over days.
There are no essential oils at all. Fragrance is among the most common causes of allergic contact dermatitis, and essential oils count as fragrance. For the skin most likely to need this, leaving them out matters more than anything we could add.

What it is like to live with
Warm a pea between your fingers, press it into slightly damp skin, and it is gone in about a minute. No film, no tacky layer, nothing to wait out before you get dressed. Makeup and sunscreen go straight over the top, and warmed thin it works as a primer underneath foundation.
There is no routine to learn. No layering order, no actives to schedule around, no second step. One jar, morning and night, and most people stop thinking about it.
It was formulated for pregnancy, postpartum and reactive skin, and for the person who has already tried the calm-looking brands and reacted to those too. It suits skin that gives you no trouble at all just as well.
Give it two weeks before you judge the skin. That is roughly how long skin takes to settle into anything new, and it is the honest answer even though a faster one would sell better. You have thirty days to decide, so there is room to find out.
Why this exists
It started with skin that reacted to everything
True Origin began with James's undiagnosed autoimmune condition and a bathroom shelf of products his skin refused. The jar he could not buy is the one we make.
Before you buy
- Is it greasy?
- It can be for the first few days, until you find the amount. A pea covers a whole face, which is far less than a lotion. Warm it until it turns to oil, then press it into skin that is still slightly damp. Most people who call tallow greasy are using several times more than they need.
- Why does it cost more than a drugstore moisturizer?
- It is $64.99 for a 4 oz jar, double the 2 oz that is standard at this price. The same jar works as face moisturizer, body butter, hand cream and lip balm, and most people get three to four months from one, which works out to well under a dollar a day. The cost sits in the sourcing and in leaving real room for the oils.
- Will it break me out?
- We cannot promise how any skin will respond. If your skin breaks out easily, give it two weeks and use less than you think you need. If it is not right for you, the refund window is thirty days.
- Where is it made?
- Saratoga Springs, Utah. The tallow is regeneratively raised suet, rendered in-house rather than bought in already rendered, and the botanicals are infused in small batches.
- How fast does it ship?
- Free standard shipping on every U.S. order, no minimum. Jars are hand-packed and go out within 1 to 2 business days from Saratoga Springs.
- What does it smell like?
- Faint and warm, from whole organic rose petals, vanilla pods and marshmallow root infused into the fat over days. There are no essential oils and no synthetic fragrance, so it fades soon after it melts in. Nothing follows you around all day.
Two weeks to know. Thirty days to decide.
Open it and use it properly. That is the only way to find out, and tallow does not work for everyone. We would rather you learned that than talked yourself into it.
